Brickworks Postcard

Having a lovely time, wish you were here...

I was really excited to see the brickworks as a Doors Open venue.  A chance to visit this photobloggers' shrine, perhaps to get some spectacular shots like Irina's.  Unfortunately, the only access was by 15 minute tour, and this just along the perimeter on the south side.   What a disappointment!  There were lots of wonderful huge photographs on display, though no credit was given.

I'd still like to shoot there prior to the renovation, but won't sneak in through the asbestos-laden kiln room.

Fading Beauty

This tulip was shot with my friend Andy's D100, using a 60mm macro lens at f/3.5.  Andy asked me to check out the camera for a few days, as he has been disappointed with his results.  I suspect the problem is with one of his lenses.  Meanwhile, I'm having fun trying different lenses on the D70, and posing as a pro with 2 big black cameras slung over my shoulder (it got me past police blockade to shoot the gusher yesterday).

Sunrise on the Water

This was the scene this morning as a broken water main showered the Gardiner expressway.   More pics here.

Visual Palate turns 1 today!  We'll be celebrating later with Piper Heidsieck Brut.  This following another bottle of bubbly on Friday in honour of 6 shots being published in City Bites (my first paid magazine photos).

The high point of hopping Contact galleries yesterday was meeting Sam Javanrouh, whose blog was my inspiration in creating Visual Palate.  Thanks, Sam and all of you who have visited the site; please come back often:-)   Particularly appreciated are your comments (special mention to Pesce and Sharon).
